What is the deadline for submitting an application for temporary residence?

The application for a temporary residence permit should be submitted by the last day of your legal stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

For how long is a temporary residence permit issued?

The permit in the current legal status is issued from 3 months to 3 years. Then the residence card is issued for a period similar to your decision.

Is it possible to freely cross the border only on the basis of a decision on granting a temporary / permanent residence permit in Poland (paper printout) without a document in the form of a plastic card?

NOT. All third-country nationals subject to the visa requirement entering the territory of the Republic of Poland should have a valid travel document and a valid visa or residence card confirming the right to legally enter and stay in Poland. Thus, in principle, a residence permit is not a document entitling to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Can I travel to other Schengen countries with a residence card?

With a valid residence card, you can travel and stay on the territory of the Schengen area countries for a period not exceeding 90 days within each 180-day period, if the foreigner has a valid travel document, justifies the purpose of the stay and has the means of subsistence for the entire period of stay.

On the basis of what type of visa can a foreigner work in Poland?

A foreigner may take up work in Poland if he/she has a work permit or a declaration on entrusting work and has a visa, with the exception of a visa issued in order to:

  • tourist - symbol "01",
  • using temporary protection - symbol "20",
  • arrival for humanitarian reasons, due to the interest of the state or international obligations - symbol "21".
